Baked Egg with Cheese and Horse Meat
This unique dish will surprise you with its flavor and originality! Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or even a light dinner.
Ingredients (Serves 2):
- Eggs — 4
- Heavy cream (20%) — 100 ml
- Grated cheese (cheddar or Parmesan) — 100 g
- Cooked horse meat (or any alternative meat of your choice) — 150 g
- Shallot — 1 small onion
- Olive oil — 1 tbsp
- Fresh parsley — a small bunch
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper — to taste
Instructions:
Prepare the ingredients:
Dice the cooked horse meat into small cubes. Finely chop the shallot. Mince the parsley, keeping a few sprigs for garnish.Cook the meat and shallot:
Heat olive oil in a small skillet over medium heat. Add the shallot and sauté until soft and translucent. Toss in the diced meat and lightly fry until golden. Season with salt and pepper.Prepare the baking dishes:
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Take two small ovenproof ramekins and divide the meat mixture evenly between them.Add the eggs:
Crack two eggs into each ramekin, being careful to keep the yolks intact. Pour a layer of cream over the eggs.Add the cheese:
Sprinkle grated cheese over the top to fully cover the cream.Bake:
Place the ramekins in the oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the egg whites are set and the cheese is melted and golden.Serve:
Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot with crusty bread or toast.
Tips:
- If horse meat isn’t available, you can substitute beef, lamb, or chicken.
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of smoked paprika or red chili flakes.
