This indulgent dessert combines rich caramel with a crunchy surprise in every bite. Perfect for parties or as a sweet treat to end your day!


Ingredients (Serves 4–6):

  • Granulated sugar — 1 cup
  • Heavy cream — 1/2 cup (room temperature)
  • Unsalted butter — 3 tbsp
  • Sea salt — 1/4 tsp (optional, for salted caramel)
  • Puffed rice or crushed caramelized nuts — 1 cup
  • Dark chocolate — 100 g (melted, for drizzling)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the caramel:

    • In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it becomes a smooth amber-colored liquid.
    • Reduce the heat to low and carefully add the heavy cream, stirring constantly. The mixture will bubble vigorously, so be cautious.
  2. Add the butter and salt:
    Stir in the butter until fully incorporated. If you prefer salted caramel, add a pinch of sea salt at this stage. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. Mix in the crunch:
    In a mixing bowl, combine the puffed rice or crushed caramelized nuts with the warm caramel. Stir until evenly coated.

  4. Shape and set:

    • Line a baking tray or dish with parchment paper.
    • Pour the caramel mixture onto the tray and spread it evenly to your desired thickness.
    • Let it cool completely at room temperature or place it in the fridge for quicker setting.
  5. Drizzle with chocolate:
    Once the caramel layer has set, drizzle the melted dark chocolate over the top for extra flavor and visual appeal. Let the chocolate harden.

  6. Break and serve:
    Break the caramel delight into bite-sized pieces and serve as a crunchy, sweet snack or dessert.

  • Store the pieces in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  • Add a sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top of the chocolate drizzle for a gourmet touch.
